I gently moderate this Yahoo group. We discuss aspects of coaxing natural dyes from plants, mushrooms, lichens, and insects. Also discussed are the various mordants and modifiers used in tandem with natural dyes. This group will also be open to the discussion of surface design techniques associated with natural dyeing.
Sustainability, process intensive, slow dyeing, will also be themes open to conversations. In the spirit of sustainability, we share cultivating (planting, growing, harvesting, and collecting) of natural dye plants.
Because life and art are interdisciplinary, cultural, environmental, and political discussions will be welcomed on this list.
We are a friendly group, a mix of dyers with multiple levels of expertise from novice to master dyers. Membership is FREE!
